Born in Edgefield County on June 22, 1919, she
was the daughter of
the late Robert and
Alice Freeman James.
Prior to her retirement, she was an inspector for
Stone Manufacturing
Co. She was a member
of Reedy River
Baptist Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Barbara Sizemore
Campbell of Rock
Hill, Norma McKinney
Brewton and husband
Maurice, Betty
Winegard and Linda
Ray and husband Jim,
all of Greenville;
eight grandchildren;
17
great-grandchildren;
two
great-great-grandchildren;
sister, Frances
Boone of Laurens;
and many nieces and
nephews.
Mrs. Garren was twice married and preceded in
death by her first
husband, Fred James
Hester, and her
second husband, Ed
Garren; son, Stephen
Perry Hester;
grandson, Rocky
McKinney; step-son,
Buddy Garren; three
sisters; and four
brothers.
The family wishes to thank all of the employees
at Oakmont Nursing
Home for the care
provided to Mrs.
Garren over the past
years. In addition,
the family would
like to thank the
people from Hampton
Park Baptist Church
for the church
services that were
offered each week,
which Mrs. Garren
was able to enjoy.

Mrs. Daisy
Robertson Garrison, wife
of B.L. Garrison, died
yesterday afternoon at 5
o'clock at a local
hospital. She had been
ill for several months.
However, her condition
only became serious four
days ago.
Mrs. Garrison
resided with her family
on the old Buncombe Road
near the Union Bleachery
and had spent most of
her life in that
section, where she was
well-known. She was born
and reared in the upper
part of Greenville
county and was a
daughter of F.S.
Robertson and the late
Molly Taylor Robertson.
In addition to
her husband, she is
survived by one son,
Earl Garrison,
Greenville; her father,
F.S. Robertson,
Greenville; four
sisters, Mrs. R.A.
Adkins and Mrs. Paul
Culbertson, near Union
Bleachery, Mrs. J.N.
Hester, Travelers Rest;
Mrs. R.C. Garrison, Sans

died suddenly Saturday
afternoon at the home on

of Junior Order American
Mechanics, Bald Rock
Council No. 47, holding
an office in that
council.
Besides his wife,
Mrs. Maggie Eaton
Garrison, he is survived
by his father, N. W.
Garrison, Greenville
county; five sisters,
Mrs. J. A. Smith, Mrs.
E. W. Morris, Miss
Harriet Garrison, Miss

suddenly March 17, 1996,
at Greenville Memorial
Medical Center.
He was a NASCAR
driver at
Greenville-Pickens
Speedway for many years
and was known as
"Maurice the Mad Man."
In 1994, he won the
old-timers race at the
speedway.
He was an
employee of 3M Corp. and
was a member of Reedy
River Baptist Church.
Surviving are
his wife, Ann Bagwell

Sunie Marchbanks at the
age of 73 years, she has
been an invalid for
several years suffering
from a stroke of
paralysis. The peaceful
end came Thursday
morning the 14th, at 9
o'clock. Only one sister
survived her, Mrs. Mary
A. Tate. The funeral
will be conducted by
Rev. B.S.H. Harris
Friday morning at 10
clock at the home of
Mrs. Marchbanks at the
McGee manufacturing
company village.
Interment

White Horse Rd. near
Travelers Rest, died at
her home at 5:10 p.m.
Thursday after a sudden
illness and one year of
declining health.
A native of
Dacusville and a
daughter of the late W.M.
and Dora (Hester)
Traynham, she had lived
in Travelers Rest
section for 48 years.
She assisted
her husband in the
operation of Greene's
Store near the home and
had she lived until Nov.
27 they would have
celebrated their 48th
wedding anniversary.
She was a
member of Travelers Rest
Methodist Church.
Surviving also
are a daughter, Mrs.
Wayne A Evins and a son,
Billy Joe Greene of
Travelers Rest; three
sisters, Mrs. Viola Cox
and Mrs. Addie

director of the Women's
Mission Union. She was a
past grand matron of the
Order of the Eastern
Star.

prominent families in
the Travelers Rest
section.
Prior to Mr.
Greene's death, the
family lived on the
White Horse Road.
Mrs. Greene was a
member of Dacusville
Methodist Church.

Luther
Edward Green, well known
resident of Paris
Mountain township, died
suddenly yesterday
morning at his home on
the White Horse road.
Mr. Green was 73 years
of age and during his
entire life lived in
Greenville, where he
engaged successfully in
farming.
Mr. Green was a
member of Reedy River
church for over 50
years, and throughout
his long life was
regarded as a man of
sterling character and a
good citizen and
neighbor.

Greene, and was a
well-known farmer in his
active years.
Mr. Greene was a
member of the Woodmen of
the World and of the
Reedy River Baptist
Church.
His wife, Mrs.
Lena Coleman Greene,
survives him, with two
brothers, J.B. Greene of
Travelers Rest and W.E.
Greene of this city; for
sisters, Mrs. Etta G.
McDaniel and Mrs. Eunice
G. Farr, both of
Greenville, Mrs. Sue C.

Josephine Hawkins

Mr. Greene was a
farmer and an assessor
for the Greenville
County Tax Commission.
He was a member of Reedy
River Baptist Church, a
former deacon and
treasurer, and served in
numerous other positions
in the church. He was a
member of the Woodmen of
the World, the
Greenville County
Cattlemen's Association,
was a Mason and Member
at Cooper Masonic Lodge
34 at Travelers Rest.
Surviving are a
daughter, Mrs. Joanne
Greene Turner of
Greenville; a son,
Jackson E. Greene, Sr.
of Greenville; a sister,
Mrs. Kate Greene Turner
of Greenville and three
grandchildren.
Funeral services
will be conducted
Tuesday at 11 a.m. at
Reedy River Baptist
Church. Burial will be
in the church cemetery.
The family will
be at the home, but will
receive friends at The
Mackey Mortuary Monday
from 7 until 8:30 p.m.
